Ribbons and Their Canonical Embeddings

چکیده
We study double structures on the projective line and on certain other varieties, with a view to having a nice family of degenerations of curves and K3 surfaces of given genus and Cli ord index. Our main interest is in the canonical embeddings of these objects, with a view toward Green's Conjecture on the free resolutions of canonical curves. We give the canonical embeddings explicitly, and exhibit an approach to determining a minimal free resolution.

Deep Multilingual Correlation for Improved Word Embeddings
Word embeddings have been found useful for many NLP tasks, including part-of-speech tagging, named entity recognition, and parsing. Adding multilingual context when learning embeddings can improve their quality, for example via canonical correlation analysis (CCA) on embeddings from two languages. In this paper, we extend this idea to learn deep non-linear transformations of word embeddings of ...
متن کاملRegular Embeddings of Canonical Double Coverings of Graphs
This paper addresses the question of determining, for a given graph G, all regular maps having G as their underlying graph, i.e., all embeddings of G in closed surfaces exhibiting the highest possible symmetry. We show that if G satisfies certain natural conditions, then all orientable regular embeddings of its canonical double covering, isomorphic to the tensor product G K2 , can be described ...
متن کاملSmoothing of Ribbons over Curves
We prove that ribbons, i.e. double structures associated with a line bundle E over its reduced support, a smooth irreducible projective curve of arbitrary genus, are smoothable if their arithmetic genus is greater than or equal to 3 and the support curve possesses a smooth irreducible double cover with trace zero module E . The method we use is based on the infinitesimal techniques that we deve...
متن کاملIntroducing and investigating structural and magnetic properties of ribbons Co68.5-xFe4WxSi16.5B11 (x = 0.8, 2) in amorphous and crystalline states
In this study, for the first time, cobalt base ribbons were made by adding two different amounts of tungsten with Co67.7Fe4W0.8Si16.5B11 and Co66.5Fe4W2 Si16.5B11 compounds by melt spinning in the water. The pattern of X-ray diffraction taken from these ribbons shows that these magnetic ribbons are amorphous. By using thermal analysis curves, taken from the ribbons, crystallization temperature...
متن کاملCanonical Correlation Analysis for Analyzing Sequences of Medical Billing Codes
We propose using canonical correlation analysis (CCA) to generate features from sequences of medical billing codes. Applying this novel use of CCA to a database of medical billing codes for patients with diverticulitis, we first demonstrate that the CCA embeddings capture meaningful relationships among the codes. We then generate features from these embeddings and establish their usefulness in ...
